Stuntman Trainee
For over a year (beginning in early April 1977) I attended Paul Stader's Hollywood Stunt School, while working as an armed guard to pay the bills. It was not my most successful role, but I practiced fight scenes, falls, and other basics, eventually taking part in a stunt show (at the Santa Monica annual Main Street Fair) and working as an extra in a couple of movies (including Old Boyfriends). I met several active stuntmen and women who dropped by from time to time - professionals like Rita Egleston who doubled Lindsey Wagner in the Bionic Woman TV series and Julius Le Flore who doubled Bill Cosby for a terrific twelve-story-high fall in A Piece of the Action.
