Philosopher

Although I have a doctor of philosophy degree (1987) and am featured in the online reference work on philosophy, Philosopedia, I am not a professional academic philosopher. Nevertheless, I have spent my life in the philosopher's pursuit: the search for wisdom—that is, for an explanation or theory of the universe and our place in it. As a result, I am a vigorous advocate of the scientific method, of philosophical naturalism, and of secular humanism. My four-plus decades of investigative work on miraculous and other paranormal claims convinces me that we live in a real, natural world, devoid of any supernatural realm; that science and reason represent the best means of understanding the world; and that human conduct must be based on humanistic rather than theistic values.
