Accident Victim
On September 6, 1997, in northern Spain, following my investigative visit to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, I had a misstep on the stairs outside my hotel in La Coruņa. I broke my right leg-so badly that my foot was in an anatomically impossible position. I did, of course, recover, with this 1998 photo of me in a wheelchair being made in the interim.
