Newspaper Stringer

During the summer of 1976 (while working afternoons for Yukon River Tours and evenings for Diamond Tooth Gertie's casino in Dawson City, Yukon), I was a newspaper stringer for the weekly Yukon News. I pecked out stories on my portable typewriter and sent them by plane some three hundred miles south to Whitehorse for publication. I covered such stories as a fisherman's dispute and the arson of a gold-rush-era building. Articles shown are from the August 25, 1976, issue.
