Fire Challenger
As research for my book, Secrets of the Sideshows (2005), I walked on a bed of hot coals, learned to eat fire, and dipped my hand in molten lead -- like many a "fire king" before me. The torch stunts were taught by "Pele the Fire Goddess," and for the other feats I was instructed by physicist David Willey, "resident mad scientist" of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
