Federal Fugitive

From late 1968 until January 1977, when I received a pardon from President Jimmy Carter, I was wanted by the FBI on a federal "alias warrant." Opposed to the war in Vietnam (see Anti-war Activist, Immigrant, and War Resister), I had gone into exile in Canada in response to receiving a military draft notice. (This photo of me in my early months in Toronto was taken by my first wife, Ruth.)
