Burner

"Burner" was the term for one doing the work I did at an ironworks in Toronto in 1974: using an acetylene torch to cut steel scrap, and especially operating a "burn table" (which utilizes a torch on a conveyor belt to cut large sheets of plate steel). This was one of my undercover jobs as a private investigator -- concerning drug use on site as a safety issue. I worked first day and then night shifts. (The picture of me here with a cutting torch is from another, later, job.)
